HELEN CHOI, AICP, joined Urban Studio in 2009 and is responsible for managing and implementing urban design projects. At Urban Studio she is leading the effort to develop the urban design component of the Downey Specific Plan, developing the urban design component of the West Hollywood General Plan update, and is responsible for urban design guidelines being developed for Lincoln Avenue in Pasadena. Prior to joining Urban Studio Choi worked as an urban planner/designer at EDAW/AECOM. There, she provided conceptual design and development guidelines for open spaces and promenades, mixed-use and transportation projects, and general plans for the cities of Claremont, Colton, Orange, Monrovia and Montebello. Choi’s previous experience includes work with Chris Lamen and Associates Architects, and Overway Larsson Pederson Architects, where her experience included design of affordable housing and hospitality projects.

Choi is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (M.A., Urban Planning), University of California at Berkeley (B.A., Architecture), and Denmark International Summer School Program in Copenhagen. She is a certified planner registered with the American Institute of City Planning.
