Urban Studio Moves!

Urban Studio moved its offices to the 11th floor of the landmark Art Deco Wiltern Building in mid-town Los Angeles. The building, listed in the National Register of Historical Places, is a 12 storey steel reinforced concrete office tower set on a 2 storey pedestal that contains ground floor retail and the Wiltern Theatre entrance. The French Zig-zag Modern style complex was designed by Stiles O. Clements of the City's oldest architectural firm, Morgan, Walls & Clements, along with theatre designer G. Albert Landsburg. Opened with great fanfare in 1931, the building later fell into disrepair and was targeted for demolition in 1979. The start of the current preservationist movement led by the Los Angeles Conservancy saved the building, which was then renovated and the Wiltern Theatre reopened as a performing arts center.
