This infill design places eight single-family houses on a double lot in the west San Fernando Valley. Each market-rate home includes three bedrooms, three and a half baths, a rear yard and attached garage. The interior features an open plan on the ground floor that opens on to a rear patio, and fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom. The upper floor includes built in shelving and a study niche off the two-storey entrance. The main façade of each house fronts a shared driveway where glazed garage doors illuminate the common space at night. The roof planes and materials palette blend seamlessly into the local context yet suggest a contemporary re-interpretation of the Los Angeles suburban life-style.
