This 10-unit infill apartment project overlooks a view of Downtown Los Angeles. To maximize sightlines from each apartment, five duplex units are lifted above three flats and a subterranean parking level. On the top floor, two penthouse units share a roof deck that features a spa pool and commanding views of the skyline. Below, the main deck of the building is marked by open wells at its western edge, bringing light and trees into the garage. Through the clear expression of building function, abstracted gable roof forms and simpleflat surfaces, the design evokes a sensibility that is at once warm and contemporary.
